Berkeley Forge & Tools offers customer forging solutions to meet your needs. With Berkeley you get stronger, lighter, long lasting products that significantly drive down your operating costs which improves performance and productivity.
Casting is a process where material is heated until molten (liquid state), then poured into a mold or vessel to create a desired shape.
Forging is the application of thermal and mechanical energy to steel to cause the material to change shape while in a solid state. Benefits of forging Forging produces directional alignment (grain flow) for important directional properties of strength, ductility and resistance to impact and fatigue. Forging eliminates internal voids and gas pockets which can weaken your metal parts leading to unexpected failures. Forging produces chemical uniformity, composition and structure, and consistent property levels of the finished parts.
Forged steel is generally stronger and more reliable than castings due to the fact that the grain flows are altered, conforming to the shape of the part.
We provide an optimal system to maintain a constant temperature throughout the heat treat process, as well as tanks that use both water and polymer quenching for increased flexibility and maximum hardening of our many different alloys.
We support these activities with our own services:
